An action shot from the Omakau races was the viewers’ favourite in Tourism Central Otago’s #summerincentral social media photography competition.
The image taken by Jan MacKenzie from Ranfurly took out the top prize in the inaugural summer photo competition, which attracted 469 entries via the www.centralotagonz.com website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The competition encouraged visitors and locals to share their summer experiences in the Central Otago region. It helped to increase the visibility of Central Otago on key social media platforms, and showcased a wide range of activities and locations.
The TCO team narrowed those entries to 10 finalists and an online public vote on the website decided the overall winner, who receives a helicopter flight for two from Heliview Flights in Cromwell.
There was also a lucky voter’s prize, which went to Susan McGregor of Dunedin. Susan wins a Central Otago prize pack including a voucher for go-karting at Highlands Motorsport Park.
Central Otago Mayor Tony Lepper said it was great to see so many happy memories being created in Central Otago. “Social media is a great way for us to share with the world the amazing place we call home.”
