The Central Otago i-SITEs are currently developing an idea to encourage and enable local residents and our "neighbours" from around the wider region to experience Central Otago’s tourism products.
We are targeting the weekend of 14 & 15 October - the last weekend in the school holidays and the beginning of the busy season in the tourism industry.
i-SITE Manager Nick Lanham explains that locals are often the last to try activities right on their own doorstep, and having a specific weekend with special rates for locals is aimed at inspiring locals to experience Central Otago’s tourism products.
Locals with first-hand knowledge can become wonderful ambassadors for the great visitor experiences that our region offers. It will be an opportunity for operators to connect with locals and provide our communities with a better understanding of their offerings and the value that our tourism businesses contribute to the local economy and way of life.
Central Otago i-SITEs will be contacting operators about this new initiative over the coming weeks.
